Parent support and coaching can help remove the pressure of having to parent "perfectly" or follow a "one-size-fits-all" parenting style. One of the most common reasons parents avoid counselling is the belief that they have failed as a parent. I believe the opposite. Seeking support demonstrates a parent's love and commitment to their child.
My role is to help parents become the best parent they can be while normalizing the many challenges that come with parenting, particularly when a child or youth is struggling.
Parents are among the most important people in a child's life. While child counselling can sometimes be necessary and helpful, parents have a unique and powerful capacity to support their child's emotional, social, behavioural, and spiritual development.
For Catholic parents, faith can be an important part of understanding and responding to the challenges of parenting. When desired, parent support can incorporate Catholic values and teachings, helping parents consider how faith, prayer, compassion, patience, forgiveness, virtue, and the dignity of each person can guide their parenting.
Parent support and coaching can provide guidance and encouragement to help you better understand your child's needs and respond to them in meaningful and effective ways. I work with parents to develop practical knowledge, strategies, and emotional support to help them navigate the struggles their child or youth may be experiencing at home, at school, or in relationships.
My goal is not to tell you how to be a "perfect" parent, but to help you parent with greater confidence, understanding, patience, and compassion—while supporting the values and faith that are important to your family.
